May 27th Review
We had about 45 residents show up at the meeting at Oza and Ed Tomlinson's home.
The focus of this meeting was to inform everyone that we still have a chance to rescind the revised annexation date now due to begin December 31st, 2009. Residents were nearly unanimously oppositional in their appraisal of Wake County Environmental Services report that our septic systems were failing. Due to this report we need prove that our soils are able to perk meaning that they can sustain our current septic systems. When a few members of the Berkshire Downs committee (Chris Rocco, James Alston and Mat Trickel) met with Councilman Thomas Crowder. He indicated to us that he understands our economic hardship and wants proof that our septic systems are functional and our soils are sustainable for our present and near future needs. A positive report by a trained certified soil scientist would motivate him to bring up the motion to rescind the annexation. However, In any event we will at least know the truth.
We are currently in the process of raising funds to pay the $2,000 to do the survey of our subdivision. We are still about $750 short so if you have been intending to pay please drop the money off with Ed or Oza Tomlinson at 7200 Berkshire Downs Drive. Or if you can't get out send me an e-mail and I'll make sure that we can pick it up for you. If you talk to your neighbors just let them know that we are still collecting and will be for at least the next week or so. (Longer if necessary) I'll try to update the collection results as the information becomes available.
Walter Cole of Soil and Environmental Consultants will be coming to the neighborhood to take soil samples, map soil types, structure and record depth to the restrictive layers, GPS Soil locations, etc.
